According to a court brief filed on Thursday by the America First Legal Foundation, Joe Biden has discharged over 756,109 illegal migrants since taking office in January 2021.
Customs and Border Protection and Immigration and Customs Enforcement each apprehended and released 545,000 people who crossed the border illegally. ICE apprehended and released 212,000 people.
Let’s break that down. That number (756K-plus) is greater than Boston, the capital of Massachusetts; more than Detroit, a major city in Michigan; and roughly the size of the entire United States capital, Washington, DC. Although the number of unaccompanied adolescents resettled around the country is close to 123,000, hundreds of thousands more are believed to have crossed the Mexican border undetected during that year.
Homeland Security would take 14.5 years to deport all illegal immigrants it has released in the last 13 months if they were removed at the present rate of removal, according to a brief from America First Legal Foundation. Between now and the end of Title 42, a Trump-era order preventing unlimited immigration because of the public health threat posed by the Covid-19 outbreak, the DHS appears to be altering its objectives.
Instead of speeding up the deportation process, the DHS is apparently planning to implement “broadscale release mechanisms” to make it easier for newcomers to enter the nation, encouraging them to petition for asylum while also conceding that “pathways to removal will be limited.”
If Title 42 is repealed, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) expects more than 500,000 new arrivals a month — more migrants than are born in the United States each month, and more than the agency is able to track. In a recent interview with Breitbart, Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Arizona) claimed that if Biden follows through with his plan to abolish Title 42 in May, he anticipates as many as 30,000 migrants every day, and claimed that the ultimate goal is to fill the voter registers with migrants prepared to vote Democrat.
Border state governors have taken a stand against what they see as destructive practices. By placing illegal immigrants on buses bound for Washington DC, Texas Governor Greg Abbott believes that “the Biden administration will be able to more immediately address the needs of the people that they are allowing to come across our border” if they’re dropped off on Capitol steps, rather than on the streets of his state.
