Ph.D. Scientist Says Past 2 Years Taught Him That Plumbers, Carpenters, etc. Are Much Smarter Than Educated Elites

I came upon this tweet that I thought was really interesting.

It’s from a Ph.D. environmental scientist, and he said something that years ago, many people wouldn’t have agreed with, but COVID has changed a lot of people’s minds.

I don’t know about you, but COVID opened my eyes to how stupid and easily influenced many in the medical community are, also how politicized they are. I can’t tell you how many doctors and scientists I saw online and on TV, who sounded like harebrained kooks. It was definitely a wake-up call, but also really alarming.

The past couple of years has really shown us that these so-called “great thinkers” and celebrated academics are not all they’re cracked up to be.

And that’s where this tweet I saw comes into play.

This Ph.D. environmental scientist goes by the handle “m_soond” on Twitter, and here’s what he said: “The past two years taught me a hard truth – that the average plumber, carpenter, electrician, etc, has far greater innate intelligence than the average academic.”

Here’s what people online are saying:

“It’s not intellectual. It’s about emotional intelligence and common sense. Two things you don’t learn in school.”

“It’s like this: you can have a car with unlimited horsepower but if that power can’t translate to usable power on the road it’s worthless.”

“This is remarkably true and worth reflecting on why.”

“They also look down on & call us redneck trash. Without us Red Necks they’d have no roads , bridges gas stations or gas for the BMW/ Range Rover nor a condo to live in or utilities. “

“Academics have above average knowledge, only of the subject they have studied.”

“Common grace is being unraveled fastest at the academic level”

“COVID taught me that doctors are idiots and lunatics”

“That’s true, I’m sure in many cases. Many ‘academics’ now are products of woke ‘Uni’s’ ‘ology’ courses and have the educational level of lower-sixth schoolchildren. They cannot form a sentence without ‘you know?’ or ‘well it’s like’ and use rising inflection ad nauseam.”

“College is not my kids future, trade school is “

“Truth. Most of the “educated” are just trained robots.”

“A strong argument could be made that high modern living standards and long life expectancy are due more to the improved sanitation from the hard work of plumbers rather than the medical or scientific community.”

“True…it comes from life experiences in the real world. BTW, those trades require math and science apptitude!”

“I have worked with both in universities and on the tools as a tradesman and you are correct the ones that never left the education system from childhood remain effectively children when it comes basic common sense”

I think social media in general has lifted the veil on many people.

It was better for most celebrated people and groups when they were mysterious and didn’t chime in on every single topic under the sun.

And especially for “experts,” who leave themselves open to a lot of ridicule and mocking, by posting personal thoughts about complex topics on social media, and it’s even worse if they’re political about it.

I have lost a lot of respect for “experts,” who I used to hold in rather high regard.
