You’ve probably seen a video or graphics going around the internet showing Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi “predicting” COVID-19 back in 2009.
That’s what the memes and video suggest, anyway.
Many of the memes look like this (without the X, that’s from an angry fact-checker):
And the videos look like this with subtitles:
Gaddafi so this Corona virus pandemic coming from a mile away

As I mentioned above, fact-checkers were very quick to come out and smash this claim to smithereens.
And in some respects, they were right… but they were wrong, too.
Yes, the verbiage and “translations” above were off from what Gaddafi actually said, but he still said what he said… and it was powerful and basically meant the same thing, mostly.
I think where the fact-checkers had a meltdown is when people suggested COVID was man-made and released as a “plan” to sell a vaccine (and win a presidential election and reset the globe).
That’s what they’re “debunking,” apparently. They are saying, “No, Gaddafi did not predict COVID.”
Okay, duly noted.
But the fact remains that what Gaddafi said at the UN was quite powerful and very BOLD.
He did claim that companies create viruses so they can turn around and sell vaccines.
He said that, flat out.
Back in 2009, Gaddafi showed up at the 64th UN General Assembly to give a 15-minute speech… but instead of 15-minutes, Qaddafi stood there talking for 90 minutes.
This excerpt of his actual speech is from Africa News.
And this is the stuff he said about viruses during that 90 minutes:
This session is taking place in the midst of so many challenges facing us, and the whole world should come together and unite its efforts to defeat the challenges that are our principal common enemy — those of climate change and international crises such as the capitalist economic decline, the food and water crises, desertification, terrorism, immigration, piracy, man-made and natural epidemics and nuclear proliferation. Perhaps influenza H1N1 was a virus created in a laboratory that got out of control, originally being meant as a military weapon. Such challenges also include hypocrisy, poverty, fear, materialism and immorality.
Today there is swine flu.
Perhaps tomorrow there will be fish flu, because sometimes we produce viruses by controlling them. It is a commercial business. Capitalist companies produce viruses so that they can generate and sell vaccinations. That is very shameful and poor ethics. Vaccinations and medicine should not be sold. In The Green Book, I maintain that medicines should not be sold or subject to commercialization. Medicines should be free of charge and vaccinations given free to children, but capitalist companies produce the viruses and vaccinations and want to make a profit. Why are they not free of charge? We should give them free of charge, and not sell them.
So, if you’re just looking at what he said, I think it’s very powerful stuff.
Does this play into people’s fears today?
Yes, of course.
But our own government causes a lot of those fears by being shady and non-transparent.
Not to mention all the negative hits “sCiEnCe” has been taking lately.
We’re at a point in this country, where our Dear Dem Leaders want us to believe that corporations like big pharma are just gentle lugs with hearts of gold.
It’s ironic since the left historically has spent all their time and energy demonizing corporations and big pharma — that’s when they were pretending to fight for the working class.
Now, suddenly, corporations and big pharma are the good guys, and if you’re not on board with that stunning switcheroo, you’re a Q-kook conspiracy theorist who wants to destroy democracy.
None of this is normal, and it’s not “jiving” with the American people.
