The View’s Sunny Hostin Gushes Over John Fetterman

While interviewing Democratic Pennsylvania Senate candidate John Fetterman on “The View” on Friday, host Sunny Hostin gushed over him and then set him up with a question geared to help him attack his Republican opponent, Dr. Mehmet Oz.

While co-hosts Joy Behar and Ana Navarro questioned Fetterman’s health and whether he felt he’d been transparent with Pennsylvanians, Hostin dismissed their concerns, declaring that he looked and sounded fine to her. Fetterman joined the show remotely, reading the questions from closed captions in an effort to mitigate his ongoing auditory processing struggles.

The conversation was kicked off by co-hosts Joy Behar and Ana Navarro, who asked, respectively, whether releasing doctors’ notes rather than his full medical records provided enough transparency for potential voters (Fetterman said he and his doctors believed he’d make a full recovery), and whether releasing doctors’ notes at all (Fetterman said he did) (again, he said they did).

Hostin continued by bringing up Fetterman’s one and only televised debate against Dr. Oz.

In reference to the debate, she began, “Well, I believe you look and sound terrific.” She went on to say that she was aware of Fetterman’s and his campaign team’s admission that he would likely struggle in a debate environment.

I want you to know that demonstrating your recovery from a stroke was a really brave thing to do. That’s a lot of guts,” Hostin went on, switching gears to help Fetterman assault Oz. Alternatively, “Dr. Oz, a cardiac surgeon, comes out as a bully in my view.”

Hostin continued by criticizing Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, claiming that McDaniel had made fun of Fetterman’s struggles.

“As a man who has earned a master’s degree from Harvard, is any of this news to you?” Hostin shifted gears and began complimenting Fetterman once again. In order to win their vote, did the people of Pennsylvania feel they got what they needed to see from you?

In response to Hostin’s inquiry, Fetterman said only that he thought it was significant that he attended the debate, and that it was “far more enjoyable” to have a chat with the hosts of “The View” than to share a debate platform with Dr. Oz.
