Cardi B's Concerns: New York's Budget Cuts Threaten Home and Community

Mayor Eric Adams revealed a series of drastic budget cuts affecting every agency in New York City last week. Reports state that it will likely result in the elimination of some essential city services, such as police, after-school activities, and garbage collection.

Cardi B, a resident of New York, has been speaking about the news ever since, but it didn't set well with her. What is going to happen to my friends who live in the neighborhood, my relatives, my aunts, and my nieces and nephews? Asked in her very first video clip, Cardi B. "I want my s–t to stay unaffected; I'm from the Bronx. The rapper went on, "Everyone be like 'New York is dirty,' and it is dirty." "And the f—ing budget cut is going to make things even dirtier."

She continued, citing Adams' cancelation of many police academy courses, "Crimes are going to go through the roof because there is a police safety budget cut." The rapper continued, "And on top of that there's a sanitation f—ing budget cut so that means we're gonna be drowning in rats." Cardi is talking about it again, so it's obvious that the subject has been on her mind! This time, though, she's calling out President Joe Biden and all of the BS for financing two wars that America simply cannot afford!

The major remarked, "We have warned New Yorkers about the challenging fiscal situation our city faces for months," in a statement made public on November 16. Without causing too much interruption to services, each city agency examined its own budget to find savings in order to meet the legal requirement of balancing the budget. Even if we succeeded this time, there's no denying that the expenses associated with migration are rising, tax income growth is decreasing, and COVID stimulus funds is running out. No community should be left to manage a national humanitarian catastrophe primarily on its own, and today's budget will just be the beginning without the substantial and prompt help we require from Washington, D.C.

"By law, we're required to balance our budget, and this November Financial Plan Update successfully does that with minimal disruptions to services," Chief of Staff Camille Joseph Varlack added.

"Our agencies have used their resources more wisely than in the past to provide as many services as possible to New Yorkers while safeguarding the financial future of our city. I am appreciative of the hardworking public employees who will need to work harder when the COVID stimulus fades, tax revenue growth slows, and the asylum seeker crisis keeps eating away at our city's finances. However, by no means are we out of the woods just yet. We will have to take more extreme steps in the future to balance our budget if we don't receive the assistance we require from the federal government.
