This week, Arizona Republican Kari Lake, who is running for U.S. Senate, contacted the daughter of the late Sen. John McCain, leading to an unexpected response. Seeking reconciliation, Lake reached out to Meghan McCain after she criticized her on X last week for retracting her previous claims about the late McCain being a "failure."

"No peace, b—!" were the three words she heard back, all capitalized.

In a long letter to Ms. McCain, Ms. Lake expressed her desire to make each child's father "proud" and said that "our children's future is too vital to let it slip away over old grudges or broken emotions."

"I would adore nothing more than to purchase you a drink, coffee, or lunch and discuss potential collaborations to fortify our state. I would really appreciate it if you could meet; my staff has sent you my contact information. I am grateful, Meghan. I am hoping we can talk soon! God bless, wrote Ms. Lake.

The conflict began in 2022 when Ms. Lake, in the midst of her failed quest for governor of Arizona, referred to the 2008 Republican presidential candidate as a “loser” and urged any “McCain Republicans” present at a rally to “get the heck out.”
