Just one month after making an appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience, an activist for criminal justice reform was taken into custody on Thursday after the discovery of a decapitated head in an apartment freezer.

Josh Dubin, the executive director of the Perlmutter Center for Legal Justice, introduced Sheldon Johnson, a 48-year-old youth counselor for the Queens Defenders who served 25 years in prison for robbery and attempted murder. Sheldon Johnson was described as “a marvelous human being” who was wronged by “the system” on the Joe Rogan Experience in February.

Also seen holding hands with Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is Johnson. However, Johnson was taken into custody in New York on Thursday, less than a year after being released from jail, when officers discovered a decapitated head in an apartment freezer and a body hidden in a container.

According to the New York Post, the victim, 44-year-old Collin Small, "may have had a beef" with Johnson since he served time in the same jail. Prior to many gunshots on Tuesday night, neighbors allegedly heard Small begging for his life.

Johnson was seen wearing a blonde wig and bringing cleaning products and a blue bucket to the flat where Small's remains were discovered in the surveillance video that was taken after the crime. After the Johnson episode aired, Rogan faced backlash from fans who claimed that he and Dubin had minimized Johnson's violent criminal past.
