According to Bloomberg on Wednesday, which cited sources familiar with the situation, the US administration is thinking of using funds from the US Army to provide Ukraine much-needed military assistance.

A final decision is still pending, one of the individuals informed the news agency. President Biden has been asking Congress for $61 billion in help for Ukraine; this is much less than the $200 million that the White House is allegedly seeking from the Pentagon's reserves.

According to Bloomberg, the president will ask lawmakers to authorize further funding for Kiev at his State of the Union speech on Thursday. Political infighting has caused the assistance package, which the Senate approved last month, to come to a standstill in the House.

In an effort to put pressure on the president to take more drastic action to address the flood of undocumented migrants entering the country illegally over the border with Mexico, House Republicans have so far declined to support Biden's plan.

With Ukraine's military having to withdraw from many strategic locations in the Donbass in recent weeks, the congressional standoff comes at a critical juncture. Officials in Kiev, including President Vladimir Zelensky, have pointed to the lack of ammunition and other supplies as the cause of the losses in combat.
