At his State of the Union address on Thursday, President Joe Biden drew an audience that was 18% larger than the previous year. Releasing their ratings on Friday, Nielson's showed that 32.2 million people watched the president's address. Across all 14 television networks, including cable, this was a 5 million person gain from the previous year.

With 5.6 million viewers, Fox News outperformed its rivals, drawing in almost a million more than MSNBC, which came in second with 4.2 million. For the third year in a row, Fox News reported the highest number of viewers.

Fox News had over a million viewers in the 25–54 age range, even though over 75% of viewers were over 55. CNN and MSNBC both reported around 600,000 viewers in this category, meaning the other networks were unable to break a million.

Over 1.5 million people watched the English and Spanish-subtitled versions of Biden's address that the White House also aired on YouTube. On the social networking site, its account has just over 2 million followers.

Notably, Biden is running for reelection this year and has been criticizing his "predecessor," former President Donald Trump, who is the presumed Republican contender for president, on a regular basis.
