Early on Friday, the former president made a statement indicating that he possesses "almost" $500 million in cash, refuting the assertions of his legal team that he would not be able to pay the $464 million judgment against him and his co-defendants in the civil fraud case that New York Attorney General Letitia James brought.

"I have almost five hundred million dollars in cash, a substantial amount of which I intended to use in my campaign for president through hard work, talent, and luck," Trump said in all capitals in a post on Truth Social.

"The frequently overturned political hack judge on the rigged and corrupt A.G. case, where I have done nothing wrong, knew this and wanted to take it away from me. That is how and why he arrived at the startling figure of about $454,000,000, which he combined with his outrageous interest demand."

"I won an election in 2016 that I was not expected to win, performed even better in 2020, and am currently leading, by a significant margin, in 2024," Trump said. This is American communism!
Since 2016, the presumed Republican nominee for president in 2024 has not given any personal funds to his campaigns. He had hinted in 2020 that he would personally pay the price to secure reelection, but he never followed through on it.

James has the right to confiscate any of the former president's assets, including Mar-a-Lago and Trump Tower, in any state if he does not post the bail for the whole amount he owes by Monday. His attorneys, who have filed an appeal of the ruling, said in a court document on Monday that he has not been able to get a bail to satisfy the order.

The majority of the $454 million fraud judgment is Trump's responsibility, but interest has been adding up to the amount he pays every day, pushing it over $111,000 now.
