Sens. Josh Hawley and Tom Cotton urged President Biden to deploy the National Guard in response to pro-terrorist, anti-Israel protests on college campuses in order to safeguard Jewish American students.

Republican Mr. Hawley of Missouri sent the following letter to Mr. Biden on Monday: “On college campuses across the United States, Jewish Americans are at risk. … In your statement on Passover, you stated that ‘in recent days, we’ve seen harassment and calls for violence against Jews. This blatant antisemitism is reprehensible and dangerous — and it has absolutely no place on college campuses, or anywhere in our country.’ Now you must take action to match those words.”

"You have to mobilize the National Guard and any other authorities required to ensure the safety of Jewish American citizens and students immediately," he said.

Mr. Hawley cited 1957 Executive Order 10730 of President Dwight Eisenhower, which sent the 101st Airborne Division and the Arkansas National Guard to Central High School in Little Rock in order to protect the safety of Black pupils.

The senator urged the National Guard and other relevant authorities to act in a same manner to safeguard Jewish American students on the campus of Columbia University and any other institution where they may be in danger. It is common to equate the term "'Never again' means never again" with the lessons learned from the Holocaust.
