As he tries to energize Republican supporters in his pursuit of a win over his Democratic opponent in the November election, former President Donald Trump has praised early and absentee voting as "good options" beside Election Day voting.

While being a harsh opponent of no-excuse mail-in votes and often denouncing the practice as fraught with fraud, President Trump has long said that he strongly prefers voting on Election Day.

According to polling, the majority of Republican voters share his misgivings about mail-in ballots with no excuses and are generally dubious of any voting method other than same-day voting.

Despite having previously said that he supports absentee voting—that is, mail-in votes that need to be accompanied by a justification procedure for circumstances such as sickness or disability—the former president is now endorsing early voting in general as well as absentee voting in particular with more fervor.

In a post on Truth Social, President Trump said that "early voting, absentee voting, and Election Day voting are all good options." "Plan, register, and vote, Republican!"

In an effort to ensure that Republicans do not lag behind Democrats in terms of acceptable voting practices—and consequently, votes in the upcoming presidential election—his comments are in line with the Republican National Committee's (RNC) ongoing efforts to alter GOP voters' perceptions regarding early and absentee voting.
