After federal prosecutors requested that a judge order one of Hunter Biden's business partners to report to prison as he prepares to testify this week, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) stated over the weekend that he believes the Department of Justice is attempting to obstruct the Committee's investigation into the Biden family.
After a jury found Devon Archer guilty of defrauding a Native American tribe and numerous investment advisory clients of tens of millions of dollars, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York asked U.S. District Judge Ronnie Abrams to set a date for Archer to report to prison. Several appeals from Archer's attorney resulted in a delay in his sentence.

"It's odd that it was issued on a Saturday, and it's odd that it's just before he's scheduled to come in to have the chance to speak before the House Oversight Committee and tell the American people the truth about what really happened with Burisma," he said.
The lengths to which the Biden legal team has gone in an effort to intimidate our witnesses, to coordinate with the Department of Justice and, most definitely, to coordinate with the Democrats on the House Oversight Committee in order to encourage people not to cooperate with our investigation, to encourage banks not to turn over bank records, and to encourage Treasury not to grant us access to those suspicious activity reports, said Comer. It's extremely unsettling. And I think that this is yet another legal transgression. This is an injustice obstruction.
Hunter put then-Vice President Joe Biden on the phone about two dozen times as Hunter spoke to his foreign business partners or business investors, according to Archer, 58, who served as a director of the Ukrainian energy firm Burisma alongside Hunter Biden. Archer will testify in front of the House Oversight Committee on Monday in a closed-door hearing. Politico claims that Judge Abrams won't likely make a choice before Archer gives a testimony.

According to Matthew Schwartz, an attorney for Archer, the Justice Department's letter and Archer's sentencing were neither filed nor timed at the same time.
According to rumors, the Biden administration asked the Department of Justice to have Mr. Archer report to prison over the weekend in an effort to intimidate him before his meeting with the House Oversight Committee. For the record, Mr. Archer does not concur with that theory. In any case, Mr. Archer will carry out his previously stated plan to appear before the congressional investigators on Monday and provide an open and honest response to their questions.
