According to an adviser, former vice president Mike Pence's campaign and super PAC only raised $3.85 million in total during the second quarter of this year.

With only three weeks left until the end of the fundraising quarter, Pence entered the GOP primary for 2024 in early June. During that time, his Committed to America super PAC raised about $2.6 million, compared to his campaign's slightly more modest $1.1 million. While not terrible for three weeks, his first official haul is significantly less than that of his most competitive 2024 rivals.

Pence said in a statement on the second quarter figures that he was "very humbled to see our support around the country growing since we announced here in Iowa just about a month ago." He also urged potential donors to contribute one dollar to his campaign. We are attempting to connect with individuals across the nation who share our conservative values and vision.

Even though Pence is optimistic, the statistics cast doubt on the former vice president's overall path to the nomination and his capacity to meet the donation requirement to enter the first GOP debate.

The Pence campaign did not disclose the number of donors who contributed to the second quarter haul, but according to the Republican National Committee's requirements, candidates must have 40,000 unique donors and at least 200 donors in each of at least 20 different states or territories in order to be eligible for the debate in August.

When reporters questioned Pence in Iowa on Friday about whether he would be eligible for the debate, Pence responded, "We'll make the debate stage."

Donald Trump, the former president, continued to dominate the GOP primary field in the second quarter, raising $35 million. Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), who has maintained his second-place position despite recent declines in the polls, raised $20 million in the six weeks following the start of his campaign.

The deadline for presidential campaign filings with the Federal Election Commission for the second quarter is this Saturday.
