According to a police report from Miami-Dade, a 18-year-old woman has been taken into custody for allegedly planning to hire a hit man this week to kill her 3-year-old son.
Jazmin Paez, has been charged with solicitation of first-degree murder and the unlawful use of a communications device in the third-degree, according to court records. The details regarding her bail and whether it has been set or paid were not known at the time of her transfer to Miami-Dade County jail.
Investigators state that the woman contacted an individual who operates a fraudulent website for hiring assassins on Tuesday in order to orchestrate the murder of her young child. The police clarify that the website's creator designed it to identify and discourage individuals seeking to hire assassins.
According to police, the suspect helped her out by giving her the boy's address and photograph.
The woman reportedly requested that the task be finished by Thursday.
According to the police report, when they tracked the IP of the computer used to submit the request, they discovered that it belonged to the woman who submitted it.
Officers visited the home and spoke with the boy's grandmother, who confirmed that the boy was the intended victim based on the online murder request. Police arrived at the house and discovered the boy unharmed.
The suspect then agreed to pay $3,000 for the murder assignment while the investigators pretended to be the hired hitman.
Police then went to her house and took her into custody.
The murder-for-hire website was still open in her computer browser, according to investigators, who did not speculate on her motivation.
