Ahead of a potential indictment against former President Trump, the Fulton County Sheriff's Office in Atlanta will step up security and close streets around the Fulton County Courthouse.
The Fulton County Sheriff's Office has announced that Pryor Street SW will be closed to all general traffic beginning at 5 a.m. Monday through August 18.

The Fulton County Government Center and Courthouse will continue to be open to the public, according to the sheriff's office, and Pryor Street will be open to pedestrian traffic. On either side of the street, there will be no space for public parking around the courthouse's perimeter.
The increased security comes as Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis (D) prepares to request a grand jury indictment in her investigation into Trump and his Republican allies' efforts to rig the state's election.
Willis' investigation into whether Trump broke the law lasted more than two years, with a major focus on a phone call Trump made to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger (R) in January 2021, asking Raffensperger to "find" 11,780 votes to rescind President Biden's victory in the 2020 election.
Additionally, the investigation has looked into phony Republican electors, calls made to other state officials, alleged efforts to coerce two election workers, and unsubstantiated allegations of election fraud.
Willis gave a hint that she might file charges against the former president when she asked judges in the Georgia County not to schedule trials and in-person hearings from August 7 to August 14. She previously stated that about 70% of her staff would work from home on different days in August.

Willis praised Sheriff Patrick Labat's "smart" decision to install security barriers around the Fulton County Courthouse earlier this week.
Tuesday, Labat acknowledged that he and Willis had received threats, and he pledged that the department would take those threats "to the ground."
