California police say a Chinese illegal immigrant was apprehended Wednesday after entering a Marine Corps facility without permission and resisting demands to leave.

Chief Patrol Agent Gregory Bovino of Border Patrol's El Centro Sector said agents reacted to a base complaint regarding a Chinese national "who entered the base w/o authorization, ignoring orders to leave."

The Marine Corps Training and Education Command reported that the person tried to enter the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms, California, without ID. "Despite installation security telling them to leave at the Condor gate, the person entered the site without permission. Military police seized the guy instantly "spokesperson said.

He was detained by CBP after the base notified them. CBP said that Border Patrol officers reacted to a complaint of a suspected Chinese national driving into the site without authority. When authorities arrived, they found a Chinese guy unlawfully in the U.S.

A "Subject was confirmed to be in the country illegally," Bovino wrote on Twitter (X). "His purpose & intent behind his actions are still being investigated."

Chinese nationals have been confronted at the southern border more than 22,000 times since October 1, up from 2,176 in federal fiscal year 2022 and 450 in fiscal year 2021.

More than 150 nations send migrants to the southern border, including China. Single adults arriving from the geopolitical adversary might threaten national security, according to certain authorities and Republican politicians.

"There have been numerous documented instances of Chinese nationals, at the direction of the CCP, engaging in espionage, stealing military and economic secrets," Republican senators warned next year.

The border crossing might include "individuals who could engage in espionage activities or cyber-attacks against our critical infrastructure, government agencies, or private sector entities."

I do not know anybody in the US, and my English is poor," one migrant stated last month. After arriving in the US, I must start afresh. I desire a wonderful life and excellent education for my children. My goal is to settle in the US quickly."

Friday, CBP said it does not comment on sensitive law enforcement topics but works with law enforcement, intelligence, and government partners to detect national security and public safety threats.

DHS expands legitimate avenues and increases penalties for illegal border crossers. Without a legal basis to stay in the U.S., individuals and families are subject to removal under Title 8 and a minimum five-year bar on reapplying for admission and possible criminal prosecution if they re-enter. "CBP is leveraging all available resources and partnerships to efficiently vet and process migrants consistent with law."
