As previously reported, President Joe Biden has provoked nationwide outrage by announcing that on Easter Sunday (March 31), the country will also celebrate Transgender Day of Visibility, a day to celebrate transgender and gender-nonconforming achievements.
Biden issued his proclamation Friday (March 29). However, since 2009, March 31 has been Transgender Day of Visibility, which coincides with Easter Sunday this year.
The President said, “On Transgender Day of Visibility, we honor the extraordinary courage and contributions of transgender Americans and reaffirm our Nation's commitment to forming a more perfect Union — where all people are created equal and treated equally throughout their lives.”
Biden said, “I am proud that my Administration has stood for justice from the start, working to ensure that the LGBTQI+ community can live openly, in safety, with dignity and respect. To have selected transgender leaders to my Administration and removed the prohibition on transgender Americans serving openly in our military makes me proud. I am happy to have issued landmark Executive Orders strengthening civil rights in housing, employment, health care, education, justice, and more. I am happy to have signed the Respect for Marriage Act, allowing any American to marry their partner.”
On the White House website, Biden said, “Today, we send a message to all transgender Americans: You are loved. We hear you. We get you. You belong. America, my Administration and I support you. Thus, I, Joseph R. Biden Jr., President of the United States, do officially declare March 31, 2024, Transgender Day of Visibility within the power granted me by the Constitution and laws of the United States. I urge all Americans to support transgender persons and abolish gender-based violence and prejudice.
