House of Representatives Rejects Motion to Remove Speaker Johnson: Greene Faces Backlash

The House of Representatives voted against Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene's bill to remove Mike Johnson as Speaker of the House.

The House agreed on Wednesday to put the motion on hold, which meant that Speaker Johnson (R-La.) could keep his job. It took 359 to 43 votes to finally throw out the move.

There were 196 Republicans who voted to put the move on hold and 11 who voted to pass it. John Greene (R-Ga.), Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), Warren Davidson (R-Ohio), and Barry Moore (R-Ala.) were four of those members.

Also, 163 Democrats voted to table, while only 32 voted against.

When Greene first brought up the move to vacate before the vote, she got "boos" from both sides of the floor.

"THIS is the one-party, for the people of the United States watching!" Greene said this while looking at the people who were booing what she was saying.

She then said Johnson should be fired because he had "not lived up to a single one" of the promises he made when he was chosen to the high-power job.

"Our elected Republican Speaker Mike Johnson has helped the Democrats and the Biden administration destroy our country by passing the Democrats' agenda and limiting the Republicans' ability to influence and pass laws," Greene added.
