U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) sources told Fox News on Sunday that border officers had confirmed that 1.2 million illegal immigrants “got away” from authorities when crossing the border under President Biden’s administration.
Every month, CBP records hundreds of thousands of encounters with migrants at the border, but this statistic excludes the number of known “gotaways,” or migrants who were found by officials but were not captured. Border crossings have increased dramatically since Biden took office in January 2021, and at least 1.2 million migrants have successfully eluded detection.
According to CBP statistics, monthly border interactions increased during the first two years of Biden’s four-year administration, from 101,000 in February 2021 to 251,000 in December 2022.

Early in January, Biden made his first border visit as president, but many border officials felt it was too little, too late. Even ardent Democrats like Mayor of New York City Eric Adams have come out against Biden’s handling of the border problem.
Last week, Adams referred to the border crisis as a national issue and urged Biden and Congress to act. The bussing policies of Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who has sent thousands of migrants to New York City, have drawn the Northern governor into the immigration debate.
The Republican contends that the only way to make Democrats face the realities of the border situation is for migrants to pour into strong Democratic areas like New York City, Chicago, and Washington, D.C.
According to statistics, terror watchlist apprehensions increased from less than 10 a year under former President Donald Trump to 98 in 2022, suggesting that terror organizations are also attempting to profit from the border chaos.
The fiscal year 2023, which started on October 1, saw an expected 718,000 border interactions, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
The White House has long attempted to characterize the surge as an annual event, but historical evidence reveals that the current situation goes much beyond periodic surges.
