Bruce Willis' wife, Emma Heming Willis, has begged the media to refrain from photographing him in public after learning of his recently disclosed dementia diagnosis.

Heming Willis pleaded with cameras to "keep your space" away from the 67-year-old actor in a video he shared on Instagram on Sunday. She shared the video in an effort to spread awareness of the condition's deterioration and to urge people to treat dementia patients with respect.

Heming Willis, 44, claimed that while out for coffee with friends in Santa Monica, California, the Pulp Fiction actor was recently approached by paparazzi. Heming Willis was clearly upset by the paparazzi's encounter with her husband, despite the fact that she said Willis' friends did a "stand-up job" of shielding him.

You know how challenging and frustrating it can be to get someone with dementia out into the world and to navigate them safely, even just to grab a cup of coffee, she remarked. There is obviously still a lot of education that needs to be provided. This one is intended for the photographers and videographers who are attempting to secure the exclusive shots of my hubby in public.

Heming Willis urged paparazzi not to holler at him or ask him questions while acknowledging that it was their job to photograph celebrities.

"Don't do the 'woo-hooing' and 'yippee ki-yays,' please. Give him some room, she advised. "May our family or whoever is with him on that particular day be able to safely transport him from Point A to Point B. So there's my PSA.

Heming Willis requested help from other caregivers or dementia care experts in the caption of the film on "how to get your loved ones out in the world safely."

Willis' family provided an update in February, revealing that the actor's aphasia has developed into frontotemporal dementia (FTD). In contrast to other types of dementia, the illness frequently affects patients who are younger. A progressive memory loss as well as speech and movement difficulties are symptoms.

Willis ended his acting career in March 2022. His family stated at the time that he was "going through some health challenges that are affecting his cognitive ability."

The Alzheimer Society of Canada claims that FTD is a catch-all name for a collection of uncommon diseases that frequently affect the regions of the brain connected to personality and behavior.

FTD makes up five to ten percent of all cases of dementia that have been diagnosed, but it also makes up roughly twenty percent of cases of young-onset dementia in those under 65.

In 2009, Willis and Heming Willis got married. They have two daughters together, ages 10 and 8. With his ex-wife Demi Moore, Willis also shares three additional daughters.
