Former president Donald Trump claims he will be arrested on Tuesday over charges he paid porn star Stormy Daniels to stay quiet about their alleged affair.
More than six years after reportedly paying Daniels to be silent about the affair, New York prosecutors are debating whether or not to press charges against Trump.
According to Trump's Truth Social account, he will be arrested on Tuesday as a result of the claims by the Manhattan District Attorney's office.
He referred to them as "corrupt and very political," and he called the alleged payment of hush money "an old and completely disproved fairy-tale."
The former president, who is running for president in 2024, was asked to appear last week before a Manhattan grand jury; on Monday, his longtime fixer and former attorney Michael Cohen did so.
If Trump's allegations are accurate, he would be the first former president to ever be charged with a crime.
