After hearing that a Manhattan grand jury has decided to indict Donald Trump, two of his declared rivals for the GOP's 2024 presidential nomination have come out in his defense.

Former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley, telecommunications magnate Vivek Ramaswamy, and businessman Perry Johnson all criticized Bragg's investigation of the case. The prosecution is around a payment that Michael Cohen, Trump's then-personal attorney, made to Stormy Daniels in 2016, albeit the precise accusations are still unknown.

Ramaswamy denounced the case as "politically driven" and referred to the indictment as a "sad period." The case, according to Haley, is "more about retribution than it is about justice," Johnson criticized Bragg and urged Joe Biden to pardon Donald Trump in order to put an end to the "theatrics."
