After she let loose with a Snoop Dogg statement while she was on the air, a Mississippi TV personality has been out in action for more than two weeks. The station's former head meteorologist, Barbie Bassett, is no longer listed on the WLBT-TV roster.

Since March 8, Bassett has not been on television. The Clarion-Ledger reported that she didn't respond to any kind of message when they tried to find out her status.

According to a statement from WLBT Vice President and General Manager Ted Fortenberry, "WLBT is unable to comment on personnel concerns. I'm sure you can understand."

Early in March, Bassett stumbled into trouble while talking about Snoop Dogg's most recent wine. Bassett, a white person, used the Snoop Dogg line "Fo shizzle, my nizzle," which is thought to be a derogatory term for black people.

Bassett had already gotten himself into trouble before.

According to the New York Post, she referred to the family of a black station employee as "grandmammy" in October.

She then apologized in a statement that was published on WLBT.

"On Friday, I used a word on WLBT's "Today at 11" newscast that many of our viewers and my coworkers found insulting. I now realize how harsh and disrespectful my reply was—despite not intending it to be that way. Carmen Poe has received my apology, Bassett added.

"At this point, I want to express my regrets. My identity is not centered on that. I respectfully beg your pardon for it, and I apologise to everyone I have upset. In order to better understand our history and people, I will draw lessons from this and take part in training, she declared.

"I am powerless to undo the harm my remark created. I sincerely hope you would pardon me and show me mercy in light of this terrible error," she continued.

According to the Post, host Charlamagne the God supported Bassett in a segment of "The Breakfast Club."

He declared, "I don't think she should have been fired for it."

She may not even understand what the word "nizzle" means, yo. Please, just quit. It is hardly a justification to fire that individual, he said.
