According to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, the explosion that killed Russian military blogger Vladlen Tatarsky in a café in St. Petersburg was a terrorist act. As Russian officials charged Ukraine with planning the explosion, he made his statement.
During a conference call with journalists, Peskov asserted, "Of sure, this represents a terrorist act." "The Kiev government encourages terrorism... It has been responsible for several deaths since 2014," he continued.
Tatarsky, whose real name was Maksim Fomin, was hosting a gathering of supporters on Sunday when a bomb exploded, killing him and critically injuring more than 30 people.
On Monday, the National Anti-Terrorism Committee of Russia declared that jailed suspect Darya Trepova was acting on behalf of Kiev. In a video that was made public by the police, Trepova, 26, acknowledged carrying the statuette that went off in the café and promised to "explain later" how she got hold of it.
Moscow has charged Ukraine with carrying out terrorist actions on Russian soil, including the 2022 bombing of the Crimean Bridge, on several occasions. Russian authorities asserted that Ukrainian agents were responsible for the death of journalist Darya Dugina last year; she was killed by a vehicle bomb on a route close to Moscow. Any role in the incident by Ukraine was denied.
