A former Biden assistant said in an interview that the president's administration was aware of the presence of secret information at the Penn Biden Center earlier than they stated, according to James Comer, chairman of the House Oversight Committee and a Republican from Kentucky.

Following a transcribed interview with Kathy Chung, who served as Biden's vice presidential assistant, Comer made the following statement. Comer said that Chung revealed "startling information that challenges the Biden White House's narrative" regarding its handling of secret data.

The Biden White House had previously claimed that in November 2022, a lawyer organizing Biden's former office at the Penn Biden Center in Washington found documents marked classified inside a closet. According to Chung's testimony, Biden had various places in Washington, D.C., where he kept classified files, and his team was aware of them months before the November "finding."

Comer stated, "Today we learned that boxes containing classified documents, vice presidential records, and other items were stored when Joe Biden left the vice presidency in three different locations around the Washington, D.C. area, including an office near the White House, an office in Chinatown, and ultimately the Penn Biden Center. "At some point, personal vehicles were used to deliver the boxes holding classified materials to an office site."

"The boxes at the Penn Biden Center weren't kept in a "closed closet," so Penn Biden staff members and perhaps anybody with access to the office space could still get to them. Who got access to these records needs to be ascertained, "He went on.

The Kentucky lawmaker continued, "We also learned today that as early as May 2022, Kathy Chung was given a duty by then-White House Counsel Dana Remus to retrieve these boxes from the Penn Biden Center. "This story doesn't start in November 2022, as President Biden's attorney suggested," the author wrote.

Comer also stated that, in light of Chung's remarks, the committee would carry on with its investigation into the Biden administration and follow up with pertinent parties.
