DeSantis's Twitter Spaces Blunder Delights Political Rivals

Rivals vying for the 2024 presidency against Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) relished in the moment as technical difficulties disrupted his official Twitter Spaces announcement on Wednesday. What seemed like a simple mishap quickly turned into a moment of kinship among his political opponents who took the opportunity to poke a little fun at the governor's expense.

DeSantis was scheduled to discuss Twitter Spaces, the platform's audio-only chatroom feature, with Twitter CEO Elon Musk after formally entering the GOP primary campaign on Wednesday. However, the debut was overshadowed by audio glitches and technical difficulties as hundreds of thousands of listeners attempted to tune in.

Rival campaigns didn't waste any time making light of DeSantis' problems.

"Ron DeSantis' botched campaign announcement is another example of why he is just not ready for the job," Karoline Leavitt, a spokeswoman for Make America Great Again Inc., a super PAC affiliated with the late president Trump, said in a statement.

She said, "The stakes are too high and the struggle to rescue America is too important to chance on a rookie who is obviously not prepared for prime time. "President Trump is the experienced leader who will be prepared to turn the country around from day one,"

The oldest son of the former president, Donald Trump Jr., tweeted "#DeSaster" as the rocket failed to get off the ground.

Asa Hutchinson (R), a former governor of Arkansas, utilized the occasion to raise money for his candidacy.

Hutchinson tweeted a donation link with the words "Just like my policies, this link works," accompanied with a pitch for his candidacy as "the consistent conservative candidate whose policies work every time."

The former South Carolina governor's campaign for president launched in her home state of South Carolina in February, and Ken Farnaso, a spokesman for the campaign, tweeted a video of the occasion.

He tweeted, "We're so proud of @TeamHaley and our amazing campaign launch."

Democrats joined in on the fun as well. A contribution website for his own reelection campaign was linked in the tweet "This link works" by Vice President Biden.

The Democratic National Committee's Ammar Moussa said in a statement that DeSantis' introduction, which was riddled with problems, demonstrated that he "was quite literally not ready for primetime."
