After being dismissed from "The Five," Geraldo Rivera, a seasoned television industry veteran, announced his departure from Fox News on Thursday.
In a heartfelt video shared on Twitter, Rivera expressed that he would no longer be a part of the conservative network's 5 p.m. talk show, "The Five," stating, "I am no longer employed by 'The Five.'"
Rivera filmed the video aboard a boat near Jones Beach on Long Island, eloquently explaining that his departure from Fox News was a result of this change.
After out to a representative from Fox News, CNN didn't receive an immediate response. However, during the Friday morning episode of "Fox and Friends," Rivera, who has been with the conservative network since 2001, assured that he would provide further details about his decision.
Approximately one week after Rivera announced his departure from his position as a liberal co-host on "The Five," the network made the official announcement. But Rivera had already stated that he would stay on with the network in some capacity as a correspondent at large.
In the wake of Tucker Carlson's dismissal, Rivera tweeted that conspiracy theories about the January 6 attack on the US Capitol were "bulls**t," which sparked a feud with network star Greg Gutfeld.
