On Wednesday afternoon, in a move to reprimand and punish Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) for promoting the "Russia connection" narrative concerning the 2016 presidential election, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) submitted a resolution as a privileged motion to the Republican-controlled House. However, after the vote, the resolution was put on hold. Later, Luna tweeted that she intends to report Schiff to the Ethics Committee and submit another privileged motion to reprimand him.

A few time after the vote, Luna tweeted that she will submit a privileged motion to reprimand Schiff and report him to the Ethics Committee.

Democrats' proposed action basically puts an end to the resolution. In a 225-196 vote with seven "present" votes, twenty Republicans joined the Democrats in favour of table the motion. The resolution demanded that the House Ethics Committee look into the matter.

In the days preceding up to the vote on Wednesday, there was a feeling of drama as Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) tweeted that he would vote to table the move, not censure Schiff. He acknowledged that Schiff "behaved unethically," but said that the $16 million fine "violates the 27th and 8th Amendments."

Despite having a large number of Republican colleagues who agreed with him, Massie was unusually outspoken in his opposition to the censure. As a result of the intense pressure, "Massie" began to trend on Twitter with "Schiff." Massie's own tweets consistently demonstrated his steadfast opposition to the measure. "20 Republicans" was also popular after the vote.

Schiff has not yet tweeted about the vote's conclusion, but on Tuesday, he did tweet financial requests, video messages, and excerpts of media appearances. His campaign account mocked the decision on Wednesday by tweeting a footage of him on CNN and a video message from Rep. George Santos (R-NY), who supported Schiff's censure.

Schiff and Rep. Eric Swalwell were both dismissed from the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence in January by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), who kept his word. McCarthy has mentioned both the Ukrainian whistleblower and Schiff's deceit in relation to the "Russian collusion" lie.
