Former President Trump has now been prosecuted in two cases, and GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has sworn to pardon him if elected.
He made the statement after Trump revealed on social media that he had been charged in relation to presidential records that he had taken with him when he left the White House and had since been kept at his Florida home Mar-a-Lago.
Ramaswamy posted on Twitter on Thursday, "It would be lot simpler for me to win this election if Trump weren't in the race, but I stand for ideals above politics. I pledge to swiftly pardon President Trump on January 20, 2025, and to reinstate the rule of law in our nation.
To be fair, the average of the most recent RealClearPolitics.com surveys has Trump with 53.2% of the expected vote, to Ramaswamy's 2.6%.
Trump said that he must appear in court on Thursday in Miami in relation to the Justice Department's charge. His legal team has since verified such information. However, the Justice Department has not yet responded.
Ramaswamy remarked, "I never believed we'd witness the day when the American president deputizes the DOJ to detain his leading opponent in the middle of an election.
Alvin L. Bragg, Jr., the Manhattan District Attorney, charged Trump in April on charges that he allegedly fabricated New York company documents to hide negative facts and illegal activities.
