Former Governor Chris Christie received a barrage of jeers from the audience as he announced his intention to run for president in 2024 at the annual Faith and Freedom Coalition's Road to Majority Policy Conference on Friday in Washington, D.C.
Christie asked, "Why am I running for President of the United States? " during his speech, taking direct aim at Trump. He let us down, so I'm leaving. Because he is unwilling, he has let us down. He refuses to acknowledge any wrongdoing, flaw, or action that he may have committed. And no, everyone, that is not leadership. That is a leadership failure.
"You may boo as much as you like!" Christie exclaimed as the audience started to boo him loudly for his remarks.
"Our faith teaches us that people have to take responsibility for what they do," the former governor continued. People need to take responsibility for their actions by standing up.
Over 2 million conservatives and believers have joined the Faith and Freedom Coalition, a national grassroots movement that promotes traditional values, strong families, and individual freedom. Earlier today at the conference, to thunderous applause, Lt. Governor Mark Robinson of North Carolina, the state's highest-ranking Republican, endorsed Trump wholeheartedly.
"We're going to steer this world toward freedom in the future. What America needs is that. And for that reason, Robinson roared, I am endorsing Donald J. Trump on this platform today for president of the United States of America in 2024.
The Road to Majority Policy Conference, a staple of the Faith and Freedom Coalition for the past 12 years, aims to equip and empower conservative activists to speak out for their values in public with the goal of increasing engagement and voter turnout. Following on from last year's event, which featured speakers like President Donald Trump, Mike Pompeo, Newt Gingrich, and Nikki Haley, this year's event, which takes place at a pivotal time before the 2024 presidential election, features an impressive lineup of conservative leaders and elected officials.
