As she attempts to impose a $16 million punishment on Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) referred to him as a "criminal." He's a bad guy. His actions were improper. And you, Adam Schiff, will answer for it," Luna said on Sunday Morning Futures on Fox News.
When Schiff claimed to have found "more than circumstantial evidence" that the 2016 campaign of former President Donald Trump collaborated with Russia to win the election, Luna said that Schiff had misled to the American people.
In his report, special counsel John Durham came to the conclusion that neither U.S. law enforcement nor the intelligence community "appears to have possessed any actual evidence of collusion in their holdings at the beginning of the Crossfire Hurricane investigation," which looked into alleged Russian interference in the election.
Luna put out a privileged resolution to reprimand Schiff and punish him $16 million as a result of the report last month.
During Trump's final two years in power, Schiff, the leader of the House Intelligence Committee, openly argued that there was "ample evidence of collaboration in plain sight." He vigorously looked into the problem in his role as the panel's chair.
"We are going to fine that man $16 million for using his position to lie to the American people and ultimately pushing something that not only destroyed our country, ripped us apart, but was also responsible for almost, in my opinion, possibly even permanently damaging foreign relations," Luna continued.
In 2017, Schiff once read passages from the contentious Steele dossier into the Congressional Record. There are several unsubstantiated charges of Trump's connections to Russia in the dossier.
Regarding the legal fees associated with looking into potential Russian ties to Trump's 2016 campaign, Luna informed that Schiff's "egregious falsehood" cost taxpayers "nearly $32 million."
Schiff, who is vying for the California Senate in a contentious primary, earlier dismissed her request and said that he isn't backing down.
"MAGA radicals have now filed a move to revoke my membership and punish me $16 million for opposing Donald Trump and his supporters. Speaker McCarthy and his MAGA friends would choose to try to silence me despite the fact that they are only 8 days away from defaulting on our debt. But I'm not going to back down. '' he tweeted.
In both Trump's first and second impeachments, Schiff worked as a manager and an investigator.
