Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) played a key role in Democrats' investigations into the former president of the United States, and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was in her feelings by slamming Republicans for looking "miserable" in their attempt to do so on Wednesday.

On the House floor, Pelosi declared, "Today we are in a chamber where the other side has turned it into a puppet show – where slavery was abolished, where Medicare and Social Security and everything else were instituted." And, what do you know? Donald Trump is the puppeteer, and he is illuminating the strings.

The California Democrat turned to the Republican side of the chamber and grinned, "You look miserable. "You seem depressed."

Here is a video of the incident:

Since resigning from her long-held leadership position last year, Pelosi has mostly become a backbencher and is otherwise leading her best life. As a result, it was somewhat unusual for her to make an appearance.

However, it seemed as though she had never left when she reappeared on the House floor on Wednesday, all smiles and ready to mock the GOP stunt.

Republicans, according to Pelosi, only benefit from trying to punish Schiff by "wasting time" rather than "reversing what we did on the [Inflation Reduction Act] to save the planet or reverse what we did to reduce the cost of prescription drugs."

Democrats had run out of floor time, but she still had more to say.

Republicans planned to officially censure Schiff later on Wednesday. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) introduced the resolution, which would publicly reprimand Schiff for overseeing the Democrats' investigation into Trump and order the House Ethics Committee to look into his conduct.

Last week, Luna attempted to get her resolution approved, but it fell through because of language that would have fined Schiff $16 million. She removed that language from the proposal on Wednesday, and it is anticipated that enough GOP members will support it this time around for it to pass.
