We're here, we're queer, we're coming for your children was a rallying cry during a drag march in New York City, according to NBC News. Although the network insisted that the chant that appeared to be in favor of pedophilia was "taken out of context," American conservatives were disgusted and condemned the parade.

Video from the NYC Drag March on Friday shows a crowd of colorfully attired drag queens and revelers walking through Manhattan's West Village while some chant "We're here, we're queer, we're not going shopping." However, some participants amended the well-known LGBTQ rallying cry by mentioning kids.

Additionally, some participants carried signs that read, "groom CISsies," where "CISsies" refers to individuals who are not transgender.

The video sparked outrage from US conservatives, many of whom have previously accused transgender activists of "grooming" children at drag shows and pride parades that were open to "all ages."

The 'coming for your children' chant has reportedly been used at Pride events for years, according to longtime march attendees and gay rights activists, according to a lengthy article published by NBC News on Wednesday.

The broadcaster asserted that the chant is "one of many provocative expressions used to regain control of slurs against LGBTQ people," citing a number of gay activists, and that conservatives and worried parents are "weaponiz[ing] an out-of-context remark to further stigmatize the queer community."

Right-wing activists and conservative pundits criticized NBC for failing to explain what the appropriate context for such a chant might be.

The journalist Mark Hemingway stated on Twitter that "'We're coming for your children' is a threat, and you do not get to pretend otherwise when people treat it as such." Another commenter noted that "'They want to rape your kids' went from a homophobic conspiracy theory to a long-standing, MSM-endorsed tradition of gay rights history in record time.

Ron DeSantis, the governor of Florida and Republican presidential candidate, mentioned the parade on Tuesday while making a stop in New Hampshire. "You began to arrive for our children? We've got issues, he said. And we're going to defend our children.

The article from NBC also mentioned that the Radical Faeries, which it referred to as "a loose-knit LGBTQ collective," are in charge of organizing the NYC Drag March. However, NBC made no mention of the fact that Harry Hay, a supporter of pedophilia, co-founded the Radical Faeries. Harry Hay is a member of the NAMBLA.
