Despite facing numerous criminal charges in several investigations, including a 49-page indictment with 37 felony counts, former President Donald Trump stated over the weekend that he will "never" withdraw from the 2024 presidential election. The indictment by the federal grand jury in the Southern District of Florida found Trump guilty on 31 counts of deliberately retaining material vital to national defense. Additionally, there are accusations of making false statements, corruptly destroying records, and conspiring to impede justice.

Trump said in an interview with POLITICO, "I'll never quit." Look, if I had departed, I would have done so before the initial race in 2016. That was a difficult one. That was not possible, in theory.

Trump said that he does not anticipate being found guilty and that he will not enter into a plea agreement, but he appeared to think that he may be offered a compromise "where they pay me some damages."

The lawsuit has been assigned to U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, who Trump appointed to the Southern District of Florida bench in 2020, although no trial date has been scheduled. Tuesday's appearance before Cannon by Trump is arranged.

In a news conference on Friday, Special Counsel Jack Smith stated that the former president will receive "a fast trial on this subject, consistent with the public interest and the rights of the accused."

Trump's extraordinary legal troubles will undoubtedly have an impact on his attempt for re-election, even with a swift trial. Additionally, he will stand trial in New York, where the Manhattan district attorney has obtained an indictment against him for allegedly fabricating financial documents. Additionally, he is the subject of a criminal investigation in Georgia and a second federal criminal inquiry unrelated to Smith's probe into his alleged efforts to rig the 2020 election.
