Another lawsuit claims Twitter has not paid for services rendered, such as the closure of the company's Australian office. According to a Reuters report, an Australian project management firm named Facilitate filed a lawsuit in California's Northern District on Thursday, asking for $700,000.
It claims to have worked on four of Twitter's locations around the world, with a "full office fit-out construction" in Singapore costing around $400,000.
According to the complaint, Elon Musk received the first bill for this on October 29, 2022, the day after he bought Twitter. Insider previously reported that this was a week before the company's first round of mass layoffs hit the Singapore office.
Insider's Kali Hays said that after Musk opened a Singapore office in 2015, a rent dispute led to the temporary expulsion of employees in January.
According to the lawsuit, Twitter incurred $40,000 in expenses between September 2018 and the middle of March 2019 to "decommission" its Australia office and store its contents.
Indefinitely relocating employees from its Sydney office, Twitter announced in July 2017 that it would be closing the office.
In addition, Facilitate is seeking payment of over $250,000 for services rendered at Twitter's London and Dublin offices, the bulk of which relate to the installation of sensors performed before Musk's takeover.
Another lawsuit has involved Twitter's London headquarters after the landlord, King Charles III's Crown Estate, claimed that the company had not paid its rent.
Six former employees filed a lawsuit against Musk in May, alleging that at 4 a.m., Musk told one of his advisors that "he would only pay rent over his dead body."
According to the Denver Business Journal, a judge ruled last month that the local sheriff should assist in evicting Twitter from its Boulder, Colorado office because the company had not paid its rent for months.
Facilitate claims in its lawsuit that it "corresponded about its outstanding invoices with its remaining contacts at the company" after the acquisition. There was "no indication" that Twitter disputed the invoice amounts or provided an explanation for withholding payment.
