Lindsey Graham's Proposal Sparks Concerns of World War 3, as Critics Accuse Him of Risky Foreign Policy Moves

This week, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) came under fire from conservatives and other Republicans for a proposal that they claim could spark a third world war with Russia. "Lindsey Graham is out here trying to start World War 3 and Donald Trump will still continue to campaign with him," wrote Republican political strategist Ryan Girdusky in a tweet.

Graham stated on Twitter that he would "be working with Republicans and Democrats in the Senate to pass a resolution urging the admission of Ukraine into NATO." The best way to promote peace and avert future wars is to establish security assurances that make potential aggressor nations hesitate before declaring war.

He continued, "Ukrainian membership in NATO is essential to the future security of Europe and the world." "I think this proposition has the support of the vast majority of Senators," the speaker said.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) rejected Graham's suggestion:

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) replied, "Expansion of NATO, a Cold War relic, led to the rise of Putin, another relic of the Cold War, culminating in the invasion of Ukraine." Massie continued, "Further NATO expansion is not in the interests of US citizens."

Graham's proposal, according to Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), "means American troops on the ground in Ukraine." She declared, "The American people will not sit by and watch as our soldiers lose their lives in someone else's war." Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) referred to the strategy as "madness."

Everyone in Washington ought to be advocating for peace and putting an end to the conflict in Ukraine, she said. "Not putting us at risk of entering a third world war." The conflict in Ukraine is causing instability in Europe and altering global economies. The United States opposes this.

There are two types of Americans who push for Ukraine to join NATO, according to professor Max Abrahms' tweet. those who are unable to protect Americans and those who covertly favor war with Russia.
