According to a poll released on Tuesday, President Joe Biden's favorability rating is still low, and half of Democratic primary voters believe their party should nominate a different candidate for president in 2024.
According to a New York Times/Siena College poll, 50% of Democratic primary voters said the party should choose a different candidate for the 2024 presidential election, even though nearly two-thirds of Democratic primary voters, 64%, say they intend to vote for Biden.

Only 45% of Democratic voters agreed that the president, who is 80, should be renominated. Compared to July 2022, when only 26% of voters said Biden should be renominated, this is an improvement.
Additionally, despite an increase from the previous year, Biden's disapproval rating continues to be higher than his approval rating. 54% of registered voters disapprove of how Biden is handling his duties as president, compared to 39% who approve. His approval rating was 33% in July 2022, while 60% of respondents to the Times/Siena poll disapproved of him.
The most recent poll also indicates that Biden and former President Donald Trump would be tied with a 43% to 43% vote share if the 2024 presidential election were held today.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Marianne Williamson, the other two Democratic candidates who have formally entered the race, are still trailing Biden in the polls, with 13% of Democratic voters saying they would support Kennedy in the primary and 10% saying they would support Williamson.
Biden responded, "Everyone running for reelection at this time has been in the same position," when questioned about his low approval rating earlier this year after announcing his 2024 presidential campaign. That is not novel information.

However, aside from Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Carter, and Trump—the latter two having lost their bids for reelection—his approval rating is lower than that of all other modern presidents by this point in their terms.
