According to a neighbor and witness, the young child was riding her scooter shortly before she was shot in the head. According to the neighbor and other witnesses, it was confirmed that Goodman allegedly killed the girl due to his frustration with her "excessive noise" while playing outdoors.
According to the police, the incident occurred when the girl's father was conversing with friends inside a car. Meanwhile, the girl was riding her scooter near an ice cream truck when a gunshot was fired. The girl's father instructed her to return home, and it was at that moment that Goodman exited his apartment building, armed with a gun. As he trailed behind the girl on her way home, the father shouted at him, attempting to halt his progress. Tragically, Goodman fired a fatal shot at the girl's head while they stood on the sidewalk just outside her house.
The father quickly ran over and tackled Goodman like a football player. According to witnesses, during the tackle and ensuing fight on the ground, the father unintentionally shot Goodman in the face as the weapon went off in the midst of the struggle.
According to the police, Goodman was arrested as soon as they arrived and then taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of his gunshot wound. In the mugshot of Goodman, there are visible bloody stitches on the left side of his face. After being arrested, Goodman made an appearance in court at the Leighton Criminal Courts building. During the hearing, he was denied bond in relation to the shooting.
It seems that Goodman has had previous issues with the local children playing in the neighborhood before. According to witnesses, he had been repeatedly advised not to worry excessively about the children playing, as they were simply being kids and enjoying themselves.
