According to US President Joe Biden, China is currently preoccupied with its economic crisis, which suggests that the country may not be inclined to engage in any potential invasion of Taiwan.

During a press conference held in Hanoi, Vietnam, as part of his state visit, President Biden stated that China's current economic challenges are not expected to lead to an invasion of Taiwan. This information was recorded and made available on the White House's YouTube channel.

Beijing asserts its sovereignty over Taiwan, a self-governed region, and has been increasing its military exercises in the vicinity of the island in recent months. This has raised concerns about the possibility of a potential invasion.

In response to a question regarding the potential for increased aggression from Beijing towards Taiwan as a result of China's economic challenges, President Biden expressed his belief that such circumstances are unlikely to lead to a Chinese invasion of Taiwan. In fact, he suggested that the opposite may be true, indicating that China's current economic capacity may not be as formidable as it once was.

According to Biden, the current economic challenges faced by China, such as the real-estate crisis and the high rate of youth unemployment, have been cited as reasons for the lack of a meeting between him and Chinese President Xi Jinping for the past 10 months.

Biden made a statement, referring to Xi, indicating that he is currently facing numerous challenges and responsibilities.

Biden expressed that a significant aspect of his plan, which pertains to the economy, is currently not yielding the desired results. However, he did not provide further details regarding the specific element he was alluding to. The individual expresses their discontentment with a certain situation, followed by their observation that the situation is not functioning as intended.

During the G20 summit in New Delhi, President Biden had the opportunity to meet with Chinese Premier Li Qiang, who holds the position of the second highest-ranking official in China, just below President Xi Jinping.

Biden's comments on Sunday were made in the context of increased tensions between the United States and China in recent years. These tensions have arisen due to a variety of factors, such as strategic competition in the technology sector, geopolitical considerations, and trade disputes.

Recently, there has been a development in China where the central government officials have been instructed to refrain from using Apple's iPhone and other foreign brand phones during their work duties. The directive issued by Beijing is comparable to restrictions implemented in the United States, such as the ban on TikTok usage on government-owned devices in New York City.

In recent years, the United States has implemented various restrictions on Chinese tech companies. For instance, in 2018, the US government imposed a ban on ZTE, preventing them from purchasing components from American companies. Similarly, in 2019, Huawei faced limitations as it was denied access to certain parts of Google's Android mobile operating system.

In October 2022, the United States implemented enhanced measures aimed at reducing China's access to chips manufactured using American technology.

Despite the existing tensions, President Biden made a statement on Sunday clarifying that his administration is not adopting an isolationist approach towards China.
