According to a statement from his office, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has recently taken action to provide support to Israel. This assistance includes the shipment of drones, body armor, and helmets, as well as the coordination of the transportation of weapons and ammunition from a private supplier.

According to various US media outlets, a representative for DeSantis stated that the delivery was arranged in response to a request made by Israel's consul general in Miami, Maor Elbaz-Starinsky.

There is a significant amount of confusion surrounding the shipment, as Elbaz-Starinsky has informed the Associated Press that he did not make any such request. He stated that nothing was able to affect or impact him in any way. There was no exchange of information regarding the transportation of weapons or ammunition between us. The individual has exclusively engaged in the process of dispatching medical supplies.

Contrary to Elbaz-Starinsky's denial, DeSantis' spokesman maintained to CNN that the governor collaborated with the Israeli diplomat in facilitating the transportation of weapons and ammunition to Israel via private entities. According to a CNN source, it is uncertain how Governor DeSantis of Florida was involved in the transportation of weapons and ammunition to Israel, as it was stated that Florida did not directly facilitate this process.

According to the source, the supplies were transported from Florida to Israel on the preceding Tuesday.

According to White House spokesman John Kirby, it is within the legal boundaries for a state governor to provide a certain level of foreign aid to another country. The export process is governed by laws and regulations, which are overseen by the Department of Commerce. Today, I lacked the ability to confidently assert whether the governor has fulfilled all the necessary requirements or not.

Foreign aid, including military assistance, is typically under the jurisdiction of the federal government. Since the recent conflict between Israel and Hamas began, the Pentagon has been involved in sending several shipments of arms, ammunition, and equipment to Israel. Additionally, President Biden is actively urging Congress to approve a military aid package worth $14 billion for Israel. It is worth noting that this aid package is linked to a separate funding proposal of $61 billion for Ukraine. However, some Republican lawmakers have expressed their opposition to this connection.

Since the conflict began, DeSantis has made several independent moves to show his support for Israel. In an effort to address various concerns and facilitate the well-being of American citizens, the governor has taken several actions. Firstly, charter flights have been organized to ensure the safe return of Americans from Israel. Additionally, shipments of medical supplies have been sent to provide necessary resources during these challenging times. Furthermore, the governor has issued an order to universities in Florida, instructing them to prohibit the presence of the Students for Justice in Palestine organization on their campuses. These measures aim to prioritize the welfare of American citizens and address pertinent issues affecting the state.

Despite the media attention surrounding these moves, they have not been effective in increasing DeSantis' poll numbers. Based on the findings of a recent survey published by USA Today, it has been revealed that a mere 12% of Republican voters express their preference for the Florida governor as their party's nominee for the upcoming presidential election. In stark contrast, a significant majority of 58% of Republican voters support the former President, Donald Trump, for the same position.
