A conservative House member, who had previously made a commitment to nominate former President Donald Trump as the new speaker of the chamber, has now announced that the ex-president will be endorsing Rep. Jim Jordan for the position.

Representative Troy Nehls, a politician from Texas, has been advocating for the return of former President Donald Trump when the House reconvenes in the upcoming week. However, he has recently expressed his support for Mr. Jordan instead.

Mr. Nehls recently engaged in a fruitful discussion with President Trump regarding the Speaker's race, as he shared on the social-media platform X. The individual is expressing their support for Jim Jordan's endorsement by a prominent leader within their political party. They also believe that it is important for members of Congress to pay attention to the guidance provided by their party's leader. The user expresses their complete endorsement for Jim Jordan as the preferred candidate for the position of Speaker of the House.

Since publicly announcing his intention to replace Rep. Kevin McCarthy of California as speaker, Mr. Jordan, who serves as the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee and is also the founder of the House Freedom Caucus, has garnered numerous endorsements from fellow lawmakers.

Following earlier discussions, Mr. Nehls has made an announcement regarding the former president's proposal to serve as speaker for a limited period of time.

Mr. Trump stated in an interview with Fox News Digital that he has been requested to speak as a unifier due to his extensive network of friends in Congress. In the event that they are unable to secure the necessary votes, they have approached me with a proposition to assume the role of Speaker of the House temporarily, until a more permanent candidate can be identified. This request stems from my current pursuit of the presidency.

Mr. Trump stated that he is not engaging in the activity out of personal desire. If the individuals in question are unable to reach a decision, I am prepared to take action if it becomes necessary.

During a prior interaction, Mr. Jordan engaged in a conversation with Mr. Trump regarding his candidacy. However, Mr. Jordan chose to be evasive when discussing the former president's reaction.

The Ohio Republican informed NBC News that he had a positive conversation with the president, although he expressed reluctance to disclose further details.

After Mr. McCarthy's loss of the gavel, the House of Representatives entered a period of recess due to an unexpected dismissal directed by Speaker Pro Tem Patrick McHenry from North Carolina.

In the midst of recent developments, it is worth noting that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene from Georgia has consistently expressed her unwavering support for the idea of seeing Mr. Trump in a position of power once again, specifically with the gavel. During a recent announcement, Ms. Greene expressed her intention to nominate the former president as a candidate for the speaker's race at the upcoming GOP conference meeting scheduled for next week.

The only available option for the position of Speaker is President Donald J. Trump. The policies implemented by this individual were particularly effective in curbing the influence of globalists and communists, surpassing the efforts of other individuals in this regard. According to Ms. Greene, the leader of the Republican Party is the sole individual who can be relied upon to Save America. It is worth noting that Ms. Greene did not contribute to the effort to remove Mr. McCarthy from his position.

Next week, it is anticipated that Mr. Trump will make a visit to Capitol Hill in order to participate in the House speaker election.

The Washington Times has contacted Ms. Greene to inquire about her response to Mr. Nehls' announcement regarding Mr. Trump's endorsement of Mr. Jordan.

Mr. Nehls expressed his excitement about the potential of a "Speaker Trump" and shared his anticipation on social media, stating that the upcoming week would be significant.

However, it is important to note that not all members of the House Republican Conference expressed jubilation.

In a recent statement, Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky highlighted an important aspect of President Trump's stance on budgetary matters. Massie pointed out that Trump, despite his reputation as a fiscal conservative, supported the passage of the CARES Act in 2020, which allocated over $2 trillion in emergency COVID-19 relief funds. By drawing attention to this fact, Massie aimed to remind his colleagues that Trump's position on budgetary issues has not always aligned with traditional budget hawks.

The user mentioned that he supported House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's effort to pass a certain measure through "unanimous consent," even in the absence of a quorum. According to Mr. Massie's statement on X, this disqualification prevents him from becoming Speaker.

In the upcoming event, Mr. Jordan will be engaging in a political confrontation with House Majority Leader Steve Scalise from Louisiana. Mr. Scalise holds a prominent position in House leadership and has garnered significant support from fellow lawmakers, as evidenced by the numerous endorsements he has received. In addition to the aforementioned contenders, Rep. Kevin Hern from Oklahoma has expressed interest in pursuing the position of gavel holder. However, he has yet to publicly declare his formal candidacy.

In order to secure the position of Speaker of the House, any legislator must obtain the endorsement of Mr. Trump.

The leading candidate in the 2024 GOP presidential race has exhibited significant influence over the House Republican Conference. This influence has been evident through actions such as expressing support for a government shutdown and urging lawmakers to initiate an impeachment inquiry against President Biden.

It is possible for Republicans and Mr. Trump to have potentially promoted him, as per House rules, the speaker does not necessarily have to be a member of Congress.

After eight Republican rebels joined all House Democrats on Tuesday to remove Mr. McCarthy from the speaker's podium, he would have been seen as a representative that most House Republicans can unite behind.

In January, Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida took a notable action by nominating Mr. Trump for the position of speaker. This move occurred at a time when Mr. McCarthy's appointment as speaker was being obstructed by Rep. Gaetz's Republican rebellion, which took place on Tuesday.

On Thursday, a video was shared on social media featuring a nomination speech from January. In the speech, the individual expressed their perspective on the Trump presidency, highlighting moments of bipartisanship amidst the perceived negativity from the media and the left.

However, the implementation of a Republican conference rule would have presented a significant challenge.

According to Rule 26 of the Republican conference for the 118th Congress, a member of leadership who has been indicted on a felony charge must step aside.

Mr. Trump has been hit with four indictments with more than 90 criminal charges. The rule stipulates that if a member of leadership resigns and is acquitted, that person can resume the position. House Republicans also could have changed the conference rules.
