US Accuses China of Dangerous Air Force Maneuvers in International Space

In a recent development, the United States has made a serious allegation against China. The US government has accused China of engaging in a deliberate and coordinated series of air force maneuvers that pose a significant threat to US military planes in international airspace. This accusation comes with a warning, stating that these actions have the potential to unintentionally escalate tensions and lead to conflict between the two nations.

According to the Pentagon, there have been numerous instances of Chinese aircraft engaging in aggressive tactics that pose a threat to US planes flying over the East and South China Sea regions. Since the fall of 2021, there have been over 180 such incidents, which is a significantly higher number compared to the previous decade. Ely Ratner, the assistant secretary of defense for Indo-Pacific security affairs, highlighted that these incidents have occurred more frequently in the past two years than in the preceding ten years.

During a news conference, Ratner highlighted that there have been almost 200 instances where Chinese operators have engaged in activities such as releasing chaff or firing flares, as well as approaching US aircraft too quickly or closely.

The current state of US-China relations is characterized by a significant decline, marking a low point that has not been witnessed in several years. This deterioration can be attributed to a multitude of factors, including but not limited to disputes surrounding trade, human rights concerns, the status of Taiwan, and territorial conflicts in the South China Sea. The United States has recently acknowledged China as its primary geopolitical rival.

According to Ratner, engaging in this particular operational behavior can have serious consequences, including accidents and subsequent conflicts that may arise unintentionally. He further mentioned that since the autumn of 2021, the number of recorded incidents has risen to almost 300 when taking into account the involvement of US allies.

According to Ratner, it has been alleged that Beijing has been engaging in a deliberate campaign with the aim of coercing a change in lawful US operational activity by performing risky behaviors.

The United States is a nation that remains resolute and steadfast in the face of challenges, refusing to be deterred or coerced. The speaker expressed their commitment to maintaining safe and responsible operations in accordance with international law, emphasizing their intention to continue flying, sailing, and conducting activities within the boundaries set by such laws.

According to Ratner, there was an incident where a Chinese fighter plane approached their asset at a high speed of hundreds of miles per hour. The plane was visibly armed and came as close as 30 feet away. Surprisingly, it remained in that position for over 15 minutes.

The news conference on Tuesday was held in response to earlier warnings issued by the White House during the summer. These warnings highlighted the growing concern over Chinese military activities in the sea and air, which were deemed to be increasingly aggressive. The White House expressed fears that such behavior could potentially result in near collisions and, if left unchecked, even casualties.

In June, National Security Council spokesman John Kirby expressed his concern about the possibility of someone getting injured in the near future.

According to Ratner, the dangerous jet intercepts can be seen as part of a larger pattern of provocative naval and land maneuvers.

According to Ratner, there is evidence of this phenomenon occurring on land in relation to our Indian partners. This statement indicates that the subject being discussed is just one component of a larger and more comprehensive context.

China and India have a significant land border that stretches over a considerable distance. Unfortunately, tensions have arisen between the two nations due to disagreements regarding specific sections of this border. These disputes have escalated to the point where both sides have experienced military casualties in recent years.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has engaged in discussions with allies and partners, as well as privately with counterparts from the People's Republic of China (PRC), according to Ratner, who used the initials for the country's official name.

The incidents were attributed by Ratner to China's refusal to engage in senior-level military communication with the United States.
