A web of violence and lies ensnared 27-year-old Chance Comanche, a former professional basketball player who had previously played for the Sacramento Kings' NBA G League franchise, the Stockton Kings.
Marayna Rodgers, a twenty-three-year-old woman from Lakewood, Washington, had come to Las Vegas specifically to become a prostitute. She happened to run across Comanche and Sakari Harnden, his ex-girlfriend, at this same period.
After a fight broke out between her and Rodgers over a Rolex watch, Harnden turned to Comanche for assistance. In the Las Vegas region, Harnden and Rodgers were both prostitutes. Tensions increased as the females argued and made threats. After Comanche and Harnden failed to secure a $3,000 hitman, they started talking about different ways to execute the murder.
These terrifying talks included gun usage, strangling, and poisoning. In an alleged group communication between Harnden and another guy, Comanche said, "I can snap her neck or just strangle the b*tch." This third man supposedly had contact with someone who could have Rodgers trimmed. "I can do it from the backseat if you get a nice little thick piece of rope or something sturdy." similar to how murderers do it in motion pictures.
Eventually, Comanche and Harnden used the pretext of a double date to entice Rodgers to a prearranged location. Following his team's hotel check-in on December 6, Comanche headed out to meet Harnden and Rodgers. The group first intended to carry out the murder at a cul-de-sac close to Comanche's friend's previous residence, so they drove to acquire booze beforehand.
Harnden had told Rodgers at some point during the evening that Comanche was really the "trick" and that he was "going to pay them for their services."(Rodgers) nodded and started taking off her clothing. According to the police files, "(Harnden) undressed, climbed over the center console, and straddled (Rodgers') lap." Rodgers consented to have her wrists bound together prior to the unimaginable occurring.
It was during this interaction that Comanche reportedly choked Rodgers for around ten seconds with an HDMI cable. Comanche stopped when he heard his victim gasping for air, but Harnden went on. At the end of the awful occurrence, Rodgers passed away.
Sensing the seriousness of what they were doing, Comanche and Harnden felt Rodgers' pulse and saw that fluid was pouring out of her mouth, which led them to confirm her death.
The murderous pair then reportedly pulled off to the side of a Henderson, Nevada, road, threw Rodgers' body into a ditch, and covered it with rocks. According to rumors, Comanche admitted to the police that he picked up the pebbles with a towel to prevent leaving his DNA on them.
Harnden was ultimately taken into custody on December 13 and accused with first-degree criminal abduction. According to the court record, he was also charged with felony theft for allegedly taking a Rolex worth between $5,000 and $25,000.
Sadly, on December 15, after Comanche had shown the spot on a map during his questioning, authorities discovered Rodgers' death in the ditch.
A Las Vegas court received a criminal complaint earlier this week accusing Comanche and Harnden of conspiring to commit murder and open murder, two crimes. The community is in shock following Chance Comanche's bombshell confession that he was responsible for Marayna Rodgers' horrific murder. Comanche was a former NBA G League player.
