On Tuesday, former President Donald Trump posted a statement on Truth Social in which he addressed the ongoing election case that is taking place in Washington, District of Columbia. The tweet said, "I want to be immune."
Donald Trump tweeted, "I wasn't campaigning, the Election was over," and he meant it. In my capacity as President, I was carrying out my responsibility to expose and further investigate a rigged and stolen election. It was my responsibility to do so, and the evidence that was discovered is substantial and cannot be disputed.
For this reason, among many others, it is obvious that I am eligible for immunity. Aside from that, I did not commit any errors. An immediate halt to the witch hunt!
As a result of the fact that the activities that are emphasized in the indictment were actions that were conducted while Trump was in office, the legal team representing Trump has claimed that he should be granted immunity from prosecution in the case involving the 2020 election.
Trump is appealing the decision to the federal Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, despite the fact that Judge Tanya S. Chutkan, who is supervising the case, has rejected the argument.
There are over 90 felony counts against the former president, all of which he has pled not guilty to. These charges involve four distinct criminal cases, including the one that is taking place in Washington, DC, and they pertain to his behavior in the period before the 2020 election.
