Ex-President Trump criticized the border situation and the insufficient efforts of the Biden administration the day after Biden's Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with Mexican President Lopez Obrador. As Blinken made his way to the southern border, a caravan of more than 15,000 migrants pushed forward.

"Our border is out of control like no border in history," Trump said on Truth Social, listing all the countries that had experienced such a crisis. It ought to be the reverse; Mexico and other nations are extorting us. Our nation's leadership is unrespected and clueless, and we're declining as a nation. It's hard to believe that just three years ago, our border was the strongest and safest it had ever been. Restore America's greatness!

One of Trump's campaign promises in 2016 was to stop the influx of illegal immigrants at the border, and he delivered on that pledge. The numbers crossing the border dropped to historic lows as a result of policies that discouraged illegal immigration, the construction of a wall along the border, and an administration that was hostile to anyone crossing the border illegally.

People were already preparing to cross the border in large numbers before Biden became president in 2021, because they knew Biden would have a far more relaxed stance on border security. Alejandro Mayorkas, who was his director of DHS, went so far as to tell immigrants in the spring of 2021, "we're not saying don't come, we're saying don't come now." In the months that followed, he flat-out denied saying it.

To make it easier for illegal immigrants to enter the United States and gain access to social assistance programs, Biden signed an executive order in February 2021. "Consistent with our character as a Nation of opportunity and of welcome, it is essential to ensure that our laws and policies encourage full participation by immigrants, including refugees, in our civic life; that immigration processes and other benefits are delivered effectively and efficiently; and that the Federal Government eliminates sources of fear and other barriers that prevent immigrants from accessing government services available to them," said Vice President Biden.

In this context, the term "refugee" was crucial since it allowed illegal immigrants to claim asylum, court dates to appear and make their case, and the ability to declare that they were refugees. Not reducing illegal entrance, but providing "safe, orderly, and legal pathways for individuals to be able to access our legal system."—That was Mayorkas's stated objective in August 2022. Asylum eligibility is low at 5%, and many asylum claimants fail to appear in court.

Record numbers of illegal immigrants have crossed the US-Mexico border under Biden's leadership. In the final year of Trump's presidency, the number of illegal immigrants caught was below half a million. It is Biden's strategy to round up undocumented immigrants, provide them with free mobile phones, set their court dates far into the future, and even arrange for them to go by bus or plane into the interior of the US.

These migrants are able to access social services and assistance programs after they reach major cities like New York, Chicago, or Los Angeles, where they have legal standing. Trump was born and raised in New York, and city authorities there are completely confused about how to handle the influx of migrants. After meeting with members of the Biden administration, New York City Mayor Eric Adams expressed his disbelief that assistance was on its way, despite his earlier requests for it.
