On Saturday, the former president made remarks about his choice of running mate and indicated that people wouldn't "be that surprised." When asked when he would choose his running mate if he wins the nomination, Trump said, "Well, it's never really had that much of an effect on an election, which is an amazing thing, both election and primary," to a question posed by Fox News top political anchor Bret Baier in New Hampshire. It has never really made a significant impact.

For the next several months, I may or might not make a decision. There is no hurry with it. It will not affect anything at all. The guy I believe I adore is a very decent individual—pretty typical. Though there's about a 25% possibility that would be that individual, I don't think people would be all that shocked," Trump went on.

Concerning Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.), who withdrew from the GOP primary in November and backed Trump on Friday, is he included on the list? Trump called the senator a “great guy” and included other politicians from the Palmetto State.

"You know, I got Scott's support." Tim Scott and Nikki Haley are two examples of people that are from South Carolina. However, if you take a look at another senator [Lindsey Graham], the governor—a wonderful governor. According to Trump, Lindsey is likeable. However, [Gov. Henry McMaster (R)] is fully aware of it. He gave me his blessing. For a governor, endorsing someone is very difficult if they haven't After all, she appointed Henry McMaster as lieutenant governor, and he supported me. What does it indicate to you?

Earlier this month, Trump said he would be open to considering any of the candidates that ran against him during a Fox News town hall in Iowa.

Trump said, "I've already started to like [Chris Christie] better," alluding to the former governor of New Jersey who withdrew from the primary earlier this month. Over the years, Christie and Trump have had a turbulent relationship; Christie's 2024 campaign focused mostly on bashing the outgoing president.

Regarding potential running mates for the Republican ticket, Trump has often played it close to the vest. A number of Trump supporters have encouraged him to choose a female running mate, putting forward names including South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem and Representative Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.).
