Fox News Host Asks Texas Lt. Governor: "Is Southern Border Impasse Heading for Civil War?"

Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick was questioned by Fox News host Maria Bartiromo whether the federal government's and the Texas National Guard's impasse over the southern border would "end into a civil war."

During an interview with Bartiromo on Sunday, Patrick attacked President Joe Biden on the dispute in Shelby Park, Texas, between local government representatives and the federal government.  Furthermore, he called the current surge of migrants at the border a “cartel army.”

The National Guard soldiers have cordoned off the Shelby Park area near the southern border with barbed wire and fence, and the Texas attorney general denied the Biden administration's plea on Friday to provide entry for federal immigration authorities.

The Biden administration and Texas are at odds over the installation of razor wire along the southern border to prevent illegal immigration into the US. Razor wire is preventing border officials from securely apprehending unauthorized migrants, according to their claims.

After a decision this week that favored the White House, Border Patrol is now able to remove razor wire that the state's National Guard had built. Abbott has ordered soldiers to erect additional walls along the border, however, in retaliation.
