According to New Hampshire fire department authorities, a lady was rescued from a trash truck that had compacted the contents while she was inside after she fell into a dumpster while discarding her trash. Fortunately, the garbage compartment had a camera, and nearby residents heard her cries, according to the AP.
After seeing the lady trapped inside, the driver dialed 911. According to a press statement from the Manchester Fire Department, the driver "had apparently compacted the rubbish up to four times" by that point.
Rescuers hoisted her out of the vehicle using a basket ladder to get to the top. She was "standing/talking/yelling, but was not attentive enough to answer questions" at that point, according to the press release. "All you heard was screaming," a neighbor told Boston 25 News. She was suffering greatly."
Following the incident on Monday, the lady was brought to a hospital and was classified in critical condition. Although her identity remained undisclosed, her neighbors said that she was a resident of sixty years old. Battalion Chief Bob Beaudet tells WMUR, "I have never seen something like this in my whole career in 32 years." "You do not actually believe it is true, which is troubling."
