After reportedly engaging in juvenile sex offenses with a 16-year-old girl in Pennsylvania, a 45-year-old man resembling Elvis from Michigan is now being prosecuted. Matthew Chantelois has been indicted on three counts of interstate sexual exploitation of minors, as announced by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Pennsylvania on February 23rd.
In October 2023 and January 2024, specifically, Chantelois allegedly "used, persuaded, encouraged, and lured a juvenile to participate in sexually explicit activity for the purpose of making a video portrayal of such conduct," according to the indictment. Chantelois also faces charges of "transporting and possessing child sexual abuse material in interstate commerce."
In a report that WDIV-TV was able to get, officials detained Chantelois in a hotel in Summit Township, Pennsylvania on January 24, at about four in the morning, when they discovered him with a 16-year-old runaway girl from New York who was nude. According to reports, the woman informed authorities that she offered alcohol to Chantelois after meeting him on social media. They also allegedly traded naked pictures.
According to court documents, Chantelois was detained on suspicion of selling or providing alcohol to minors, interfering with child custody, and corrupting juveniles. The amount of his bail was $100,000.
Chantelois may spend anywhere from 15 to 60 years in jail, pay a fine of up to $750,000, or both if found guilty.
According to reports, the defendant goes by the stage name "Matt King" and impersonates Elvis. He is "one of the world's top-ranked Elvis tribute performers," according to his website, and he has won several competitions.
